The Toyota i-unit is a compact personal mobility vehicle powered by electric motors. Lithium-ion batteries provide the electricity for the dual rear-wheel mounted motors. An unusual dual mode chassis allows the i-unit to adjust for low speed and high speed cruising. In low speed mode, the i-unit has upright seating for the driver to allow maximum visibility. The high speed mode reclines the i-unit for optimized handling and stability. An innovative autopilot called Intelligent Transport System (ITS) allows safe travel in appropriately equipped lanes. The i-unit is equipped with a computerized system which adapts to the driver's information and music requests. Body color can be customized based on driver preferences as well. The i-unit is made of recyclable materials to minimize waste and pollution.
