Saturn's first SUV is available with a CVT automatic.
Overview Information
Saturn finally joins the SUV crowd with an exclusive design that isn't shared with any other GM division. Inspired by the CV-1 concept vehicle, the VUE features all-independent suspension and a choice of FWD or AWD. The AWD system can funnel up to 100 percent of drive torque to the rear wheels. Engines include a 138-bhp inline-4 and a 181-bhp V-6. A CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission) and electronically assisted power steering are new technologies used for the first time by GM. The new Saturn goes on sale in 2001.
Official Word:
Adding a sport utility vehicle to the Saturn line is the logical next step in a strategy to expand the Saturn brand with a portfolio of innovative larger vehicles
