Welcome Velocity Journal Gearheads

We are attempting to build the definitive automotive resource. Our aim is to make the site a trusted source of information that is both complete and unbiased. Velocity's Gearheads are getting their hands dirty to help us keep this going forward.

Since 1997, we have published 46,800 photos, and cataloged 384 makes and 16,830 models covering 138 years of automotive history. This is largely the work of two people -- just think what we could do with some help.

Site Updates: Each week, we make hundreds of changes to the content on our site. Not all of it is obvious. We publish an RSS feed that tracks changes to the content on our site. This is not for the uninitiated.

Velocity Index: The Velocity Index (VjI) is an analytical assessment of an automobile's all-around performance potential.

Experimental Features

Buyers Guide Search: This is a first attempt at a live search function for current models. We are currently looking for feedback in the forum.

Equipment level analysis. You may have noticed Equipment Level indications cropping up on current models (eg, Ford Focus). This is a new way of comparing cars based off of a given set of equipment.
