Although the H1, the only Hummer resembling a military specification model is long gone, the unmistakable look of Hummer remains. The bricklike shape and slotted chrome grille are immediately recognizable as Hummer styling cues.

All H2 models receive new powerplants for 2008. A 6.2L V8 becomes the standard engine, replacing last year's 6.0L engine, and boosting horsepower by almost 70-bhp. A standard six-speed automatic replaces the previous 4-speed unit. A comprehensive update to the interior features a new instrument panel, seats, new door trim and an updated third-row seat.

The midsize H3-series gains a new Alpha model that is equipped with a V8 engine. The 5.3L V8 engine produces 300-bhp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque. H3 Alpha models start at just under $40,000.
